Injury Recovery Bridge Training Program
Bridging the Gap Between Rehab and Return-to-Sports
For many athletes recovering from a sports injury, there is a gap in their recovery between completion of a physical therapy rehabilitation program and return-to-sports readiness. The PerformWell Injury Recovery Training Programs are designed to transition injured athletes from PT rehab programs to full recovery for sports and fitness. The programs are individually designed, and take into consideration the specific injury and the athlete’s primary sport. Examples of these programs include:
- ACL Injury Recovery Program
- Post Knee Arthroscopy Recovery Program
- Post Shoulder Surgery Recovery Program
- Low Back Injury Recovery Program
Return-To-Sports Readiness Testing
Testing for safe “return to sports preparedness” following injury
At PerformWell, our objective for returning an athlete to sports after surgery or injury is to ensure their readiness for the higher levels of physical stress associated with full-speed athletic participation. Many sports-readiness tests rely on simple balance and movement drills that are primarily used to collect data for research purposes. Many of these tests do not fully assess power, strength or endurance over time, all of which are critical skills for a return to sports
Not all injuries are the same, and not all sports require the same skill set for safe participation. PerformWell’s Return-to- Sports Testing is unique in that the test is modified based on several factors: Body Part involved; Specific Diagnosis or surgery; Sports Specific; Surface of play (turf or hardcourt).
- Sport Specifi c: soccer vs. volleyball, vs. baseball, etc.
- Surface of Play: turf vs. hardcourt
The Sports-Readiness Test takes approx. 60-90 minutes and is performed by our physical therapy and performance training staff.
A Better Performance Training
Model For Young Athletes
She’s the best athlete on her school team and her club team. She may be the best athlete in the city or even the state. But she’s on the sidelines, with a brace on her knee. Her first sports injury. Or maybe it’s her second or third.
Sports Medicine physicians and therapists are constantly being asked: What can we do as a parent to prevent these injuries?
Not all injuries can be prevented, but sports science research has proven that the incidence of injury can be reduced if we train athletes differently. In fact, the incidence of ACL knee injury can be reduced by up to 85 percent if training programs focus on neuromuscular control, core strength and improving the quality of sport-specific movement patterns.
PerformWell offers the teenage and collegiate athlete a better model For performance training – a model that focuses on staying healthy as The primary objective of improving performance.
Key features of the IP Training Program include:
- Initial Assessment: The athlete is evaluated by a physical therapist to identify any biomechanical or structural deficits that would make the athlete “at-risk” for developing a sports injury. A performance trainer evaluates the athlete dynamically for movement impairments that need to be addressed through corrective exercise.
- Personalized Training Prescription: The performance training program is established based on factors such as the athlete’s specific sport, gender, and sports surface and modified based on findings from the Initial Assessment that need to be addressed.
- Cost: The program is personalized to each individual athlete participant, but implemented in a group setting which allows for cost-conscious pricing:
- 90 min Session – $40
- 15 Session Package – $525 ($35/session)
- Monthly Unlimited – $300
PerformWell has extensive experience in designing Team Training Programs that enhance Team performance by implementing injury-prevention concepts and incorporating team-building drills. Our Sports Team Training includes:
High School & Club Sports Team Training Programs
The perform well staff has developed Team Performance Training programs for soccer, basketball, volleyball and lacrosse teams throughout the metroplex. By incorporating injury prevention concepts into the group training sessions, the athletes benefit from increased speed, strength, and athleticism that has specific application to their sport while also developing joint-protective mechanisms that have been scientifically proven to reduce the incidence of sport-related injury. Drills that incorporate team building and camaraderie lead to enhanced performance as a group.
Adult Team Training Programs Adult groups such as women’s tennis teams have utilized PerformWell Team Training to improve performance, and to encourage teamwork. Sports injuries are common in adult-age athletics, so training concepts focus on preparing the body for biomechanical forces that lead to injury. Core strength, flexibility and neuro-muscular control drills are emphasized, and team-building drills encourage group performance.
Individual Adult Training & Wellness Program
Breaking the cycle of injury associated with adult training
Many adults have experienced frustration with their attempts to get healthy and stay healthy. They have tried independent workouts, group classes, even workouts with personal trainers, but they continue to have setbacks, injuries or pain flare-ups. The Adult Training & Wellness Program at PerformWell provides a better alternative. It is a medically based fitness program, and is our most popular program.
Each participant is evaluated by a performance trainer and a physical therapist. Our team reviews injury history, fitness history, and the client’s primary training objectives prior to starting a very personalized training experience. The primary goal of our PerformWell staff is to help adults achieve and maintain a healthy level of fitness. Accomplishing this goal requires developing a training regimen that has tenure that is not regularly interrupted by injury from overtraining, poor exercise technique, or encouraging exercises or activities that are contraindicated based on the client’s injury history, or musculoskeletal make-up.
Cost: The program is personalized to each individual athlete participant, but implemented in a group setting which allows for cost-conscious pricing:
- 90 min Session – $40
- 15 Session Package – $525 ($35/session)
- Monthly Unlimited – $300
