November 3, 2023
To Our Patients,
If you received this letter you are a patient of an OrthoLoneStar division, and our system identified you are insured through a United Healthcare health plan. This is to inform you of a potential upcoming change in our insurance network status with United Healthcare. As of April 1, 2024, if we are unsuccessful in reaching a mutually acceptable agreement with United Healthcare, we will no longer be in-network with United Healthcare.
Although we still accept United Healthcare plans today, we are being forced to consider whether we can continue participating in United Healthcare plans going forward. These decisions are never easy, and while we hope we can work with United Healthcare to remain in network, we are being told we will be required to take a significant reduction in payment that makes continued participation impossible.
If we are unable to reach an agreement with United Healthcare before April 1, 2024, we will go out-of-network. As your trusted physicians, we want you to know in advance about this possible network disruption. It is important to us that you also know that although we made this difficult decision, we are not dismissing United Healthcare patients. However, if you become an out-of-network patient, you may not have coverage to see an OrthoLoneStar provider or you may be responsible for a greater cost share than you would if OrthoLoneStar continued to stay in the United Healthcare network.
Our priority is to continue to provide high quality care to our patients, as we always have. If we are unable to reach an agreement with United Healthcare and you choose to continue to receive services from an OrthoLoneStar division after April 1, 2024, we will assist you with your benefit information so that we can provide you with an estimate of your costs.
We know benefit open enrollment periods are currently underway, and we want to make sure you have information to help you make your health insurance decisions. We will continue to keep you aware of our network status and will do our best to work with United Healthcare on the agreement. If you have concerns, we encourage you to discuss this with your Human Resources Department or call the Member Customer Service number on the back of your insurance card.
Sincerely,
The Physicians at OrthoLoneStar
