  • Complex and revision knee surgery
  • Shoulder instability and reconstruction
  • Hip arthroscopy and labral surgery
  • Arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures
  • Fractures of the upper and lower extremities
  • Sports-related injuries

Whether caring for a competitive athlete, a weekend warrior, or someone simply trying to stay active and independent, Dr. Wollenman takes an individualized approach to treatment. He believes successful orthopaedic care begins with understanding each patient’s goals and creating a treatment plan around what they want to get back to doing.

From College Athlete to Orthopaedic Surgeon

A native of Sheridan, Wyoming, Dr. Wollenman’s interest in movement and healing began at an early age through his father’s work as an equine veterinarian.

An athlete himself, Dr. Wollenman competed in multiple sports throughout high school before attending Michigan State University, where he walked on to the men’s basketball team. He played for five years and was part of several nationally ranked teams, including the Spartans’ run to the 2015 Final Four.

His experience as a collegiate athlete continues to influence the way he approaches orthopaedic and sports medicine today. He understands firsthand how important movement, competition, and an active lifestyle can be to a patient’s quality of life.

Elite Training in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine

Dr. Wollenman earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Vanderbilt, where he developed extensive surgical experience while also providing athletic coverage from the high school through professional levels.

Following residency, he completed a fellowship in arthroscopy and sports medicine at The Steadman Clinic and Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colorado.

During his fellowship, Dr. Wollenman trained alongside internationally recognized experts in shoulder, hip, and knee surgery and cared for athletes ranging from high school competitors to Olympians. His experience also included involvement in research focused on advancing the diagnosis and treatment of orthopaedic and sports-related injuries.

A Personalized Approach to Orthopaedic Care

For Dr. Wollenman, advanced surgical training is only one part of providing exceptional orthopaedic care.

He places a strong emphasis on communication, shared decision-making, and understanding what recovery means to each individual patient. When surgery is appropriate, he utilizes the latest evidence-based arthroscopic and reconstructive techniques with the goal of helping patients safely return to the activities they value.

That may mean returning to competitive sports, getting back on the golf course, keeping up with family, or simply moving through everyday life with greater confidence.
