Texas Orthopaedic Associates is pleased to announce that John Cale, MD, a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon, will officially join our practice on October 1, 2026. Dr. Cale will see patients at our Keller location, expanding access to specialized spine care for patients throughout Keller, Fort Worth, and the surrounding North Texas communities.
With advanced fellowship training in both traditional and minimally invasive spine surgery, Dr. Cale brings expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of spinal conditions, from common back and neck problems to complex spinal disorders.
Advanced Training in Orthopaedic Spine Surgery
Dr. Cale earned dual bachelor’s degrees in biology and accounting, graduating with Honors in Research from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock, where he also completed his orthopaedic surgery residency.
Following residency, Dr. Cale pursued specialized fellowship training in orthopaedic spine surgery at the Spine Institute of Arizona in Scottsdale. During his fellowship, he trained alongside pioneers in minimally invasive spine treatments, further developing his skills in both open and minimally invasive surgical techniques.
This advanced training allows Dr. Cale to offer patients a comprehensive approach to treating common and complex spinal conditions, with an emphasis on selecting the appropriate treatment for each individual’s needs.
Specialized Spine Care in Keller, TX
Dr. Cale specializes in a variety of advanced surgical techniques designed to address conditions affecting the cervical (neck) and lumbar (lower back) spine.
His areas of surgical expertise include:
- Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery: Microdiscectomy and laminectomy procedures.
- Lumbar Spine Surgery: Anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF), lateral lumbar interbody fusion (DLIF/XLIF), and posterior lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF/PLIF).
- Cervical Spine Surgery: Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), posterior cervical foraminotomy, and posterior cervical fusion.
- Cervical Disc Replacement: Cervical total disc replacement procedures.
Through his experience with both traditional and minimally invasive approaches, Dr. Cale provides individualized surgical care for patients experiencing spinal conditions that may affect their mobility, comfort, and quality of life.
Experience Caring for Athletes
In addition to his specialized spine training, Dr. Cale has experience caring for athletes at both the high school and collegiate levels.
Throughout his residency and fellowship, he served as a covering physician for sporting events, gaining valuable experience evaluating and treating athletic injuries.
His background in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine coverage provides an additional perspective when treating active individuals seeking to return to the activities they enjoy.
